The Hotel Königshof Garmisch is centrally located between the towns of Garmisch und Partenkirchen at the foot of Zugspitze Mountain and is easily accessible. The station is directly opposite the hotel, just 2-3 minutes on foot. Parking is available at the hotel – bikers and cyclists are, of course, also welcome!
Coming by car
Approaching from Munich, follow the A95 motorway to the end (Eschenlohe) and then continue on the B2 via Oberau and Farchant to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Once you reach the town-hall square (Rathausplatz), turn right into Bahnhofstraße, following signs for “Fernpaß Grainau”. The Hotel Königshof is on the right-hand side, at number 4 St. Martin Straße, opposite Garmisch railway station.
Approaching from the south, on the A12 motorway from Innsbruck in Austria, pick up the B177 via Seefeld in Tyrol, Mittenwald and then join the B2 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Continue to the Bahnhofstraße/St.-Martin-Straße and then turn left at Rathausplatz, following signs to “Fernpaß/Reutte/Grainau". After approx. 450m you will see the Hotel Königshof Garmisch on the right.
Approaching from the north, coming from Ulm and the A7, head for the Fernpassstr. / Füssen border tunnel and pick up the B179. Take the exit B187 towards Garmisch/Ehrwald/Leermoos and then turn into Ehrwalder Str. / Gries and follow the B187 / B23 to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Turn right into Germackerstraβe and then, after approx. 270m, go left into St. Martin Straße. Turn round on Bahnhofstraße. The hotel is on the right-hand side.
An underground garage parking is available at the Hotel Königshof Garmisch. Parking is charged at €10 per day. A bike storage facility is also available for guest use.
Arriving by train
The Hotel Königshof Garmisch is ideally located for rail travellers as it is directly opposite the ‘DB Bahnhof Garmisch’, just 2-3 minutes’ walk away.
At the weekends there are direct ICE trains to Garmisch-Partenkirchen from major cities, including Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, the Ruhr district, Cologne and Innsbruck. Local services from Munich’s main station (München Hbf) to Garmisch Partenkirchen operate approx. every hour.
From Munich airport’s Visitors Park, take the S-bahn train to Munich’s main station (München Hbf) or München Pasing, where you can pick up a local train to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Garmisch’s main station (DB-Bahnhof Garmisch) is just a stone’s throw from the Hotel Königshof. A quick check-in and then it’s straight out onto the ski slopes. The hotel is conveniently located about 4 minutes’ walk from the Bavarian Zugspitze railway, where you and your snowboard or skis can be transported quickly and comfortably to the Garmisch Classic ski area (and the Hausbergbahn, Kreuzeckbahn and Alpspitzbahn ski lifts) or to the Zugspitze ski area.
Arriving by plane
The nearest airports are Munich and Innsbruck. Munich is approx. 120 km away (journey time: around 90 minutes); Innsbruck is approx. 60 km away (journey time: 1hour).
Arriving by bus
The Hotel Königshof Garmisch is also easy to reach by long-distance bus (operated by "MeinFernbus.de"). Buses on route 040 depart 6 times a day to Garmisch Partenkirchen from Munich and Innsbruck. There are also connections directly from/to Munich airport. Buses stop right outside Garmisch railway station directly opposite the Hotel Königshof.

The ‘Gästekarte Garmisch’ (Visitor’s Card) entitles you to free travel on all local buses and use of the snow express in winter (connecting Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Ehrwald - Leermos - Reutte – Vils). That means you can enjoy the many different skiing and hiking areas of the Zugspitze region during your stay. Pick up your ‘Gästekarte’ when you check-in to the hotel.
